The ANU Indonesia Institute is hosting the Indonesia Council Open Conference on November 20-21 (with a postgraduate workshop on November 19). This is a large conference with multiple panels on many aspects of Indonesian society, politics, culture, environment, history and more. It has participants from around Australia, Indonesia, and the world.

The conference is free and open to the public, but we require participants to register on the eventbrite.

Public lecture and keynote on November 20 by the acclaimed Indonesian novelist, Laksmi Pamuntjak, who will be speaking on “Rethinking Art, Freedom and Morality in Indonesia.” More details and registration here.

Parking:

Parking is limited at ANU which is why we recommend walking, public transport or taking a taxi. Parking fills up before 9am and it can be difficult finding a park during the day so please allow enough time to find the venue and be seated for a prompt start.

Please refer to the ANU designated parking map – all pink areas are available for visitors however you will have to download the CellOPark pay as you go parking app. This requires a one off registration and more information is available here.

Arriving in Canberra

Canberra Airport is served by most of Australia’s major cities, as well as several international connections. By road, Canberra is located approximately 3.5 hours from Sydney. There is a frequent coach service from Sydney to Canberra.
